New ERN-EuroBloodNet ePAG!
Ioana Todorova-Yanakieva is the new ePAG for Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)
We are very much delighted to introduce Ioana Todorova-Yanakieva who has joined the ERN-EuroBloodNet community as the new ePAG patient advocate for Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) in July 2023.
Being a patient with TTP herself, Ioana is the founder and the chairperson of the Bulgarian TTP Patient organization.
Her main endeavour in the field of TTP is to raise disease awareness among healthcare providers and the patient community, to help improve access to a timely and accurate diagnosis of all TTP suspected patients and to affordable and quality treatments and care along with prevention of new relapses. In other words, leave no TTP patient behind.
Ioana has close to 30 years of experience in the field of healthcare (pharmaceutical industry, hospital management and clinical research) and is now fully devoted and dedicated to helping TTP patients. Her broad experience in health services has given her a very good understanding of healthcare functioning, research and access to medicinal products, regulations and healthcare mechanisms and processes. All of this, combined with Ioana's exposure to a rare disease, makes her a passionate TTP patient supporter and eager to advocate for and help patients.
Ioana has recently joined the EURORDIS Mental Wellbeing Partnership Network as she is cognizant of the mental health impact on patients and their families during and post a TTP episode. She is actively supporting the activities of the Bulgarian umbrella organization of rare diseases, also a member of EURORDIS CNA - "Rare Diseases Bulgaria", in her role as treasurer.
