A School Toolkit for explaining living with a Rare Disease to young children has been launched!

The book, titled "A Friendship Story", and the lesson plan are available on the Rare Disease Day website for free.

The Rare Disease Day global platform in collaboration with their national alliance rare disease patient organisation partners have created a School toolkit for rare diseases to help teachers and young children understand what is living with a rare disease.

“A Friendship Story” is the title of the children's book created by Ivan Drajzl in collaboration with the Serbian author Danijela Knez (Danijela Pešić) a patient with a pulmonary rare disease who wrote the book inspired by her childhood.

The book, translated into more than 20 languages, together with the lesson plan available on the website, represents a useful tool for teachers by helping them to provoke young children development of empathy towards other children with rare diseases.
